Long time ago, there lived a monk. He was the wisest monk of that region. But he was hungry for more knowledge. He wanted to become the wisest of all monks.

He went searching for a mentor who can show him the way of true greatness. He travels around the world, learning from all the wise monks. Yet he was not satisfied.

Later one day, a villager suggests him to meet a teacher who resides in a sanctum on the highest peak. Determined monk, scales the mountain as quickly as possible. After reaching, he details his ambition to the teacher.

Old wise teacher offers him a cup of tea to get refreshed. As the monk accepts the offer, teacher gets an empty cup of tea and starts pouring. To monks amazement, teacher doesn’t stop pouring. The cup gets full and it starts overflowing all over the table. Monk gets puzzled.

Teacher explains, mind is like an empty cup. It can only take so much. If you want to fill more, then you have to empty your cup. If you want to learn something new then first step is to unlearn what you think you already know.
